Avon Transit Center Update – Ride the Gondola with us.
The Avon Transit Center is now one more step closer to being the complete transportation hub in its dreams of itself- the Gondola to Beaver Creek Landing is now fully operational, cutting the average transit time of skiers from Avon to Beaver Creek by about five minutes. The gondola also serves end-of-day or lunching skiers downloading back to Avon. Check out the ride in this slideshow:
Our November 1 update of the Avon Transit Center detailed the path of the Gondola- from the still under-construction Westin to Beaver Creek Landing, the formerly nameless bottom of the Lower Beaver Creek Mountain Express Lift. From there, passengers are able to buy lift tickets and continue their journey up the high-speed quad or else catch the big green bus up to Beaver Creek Village.
The town of Avon has reconfigured its bus schedule to service the gondola instead of Beaver Creek Village, and like the bus itself, the gondola requires no ticket of any kind to board. The town bus, in short, has created an Avon Gondola Express running from 7:40AM to 2:05AM stopping at City Market, the Christie, the Comfort Inn, the Avon Rec Center, Christy Sports, and of course the Avon Station. The rest of the Avon busses still stop at the Elk lot for passengers, but if you’ve taken the bus system before and think you know it, check the new schedule for your route may have changed. The town of Avon also has an interactive map on its website to assist with route planning.
