How’s the weather?

Since last year, many people have been wondering how this year is going to be with snow and if they should conciser coming here for another ski season. Well, I must say I think this may be a WONDERFUL year for amazing turns. We have had at least 2 big snow storms a month since the beginning of October. This previous week, we have accumulate 18” of snow. We’ve already had a total of 79” of snow and the mountain has only been open for three weeks! To me this looks like it could be a GREAT year.

In order to celebrate your holiday vacation or even just play in the snow for a few days, give Beaver Creek West Condominiums a call and we will be able to help you find a nice relaxing place to stay. We have a year round outdoor pool and hot tubs as well. We have extravagant views of Nottingham Lake and Beaver Creek Mountain. Not to mention a free shuttle that will transport you to Vail or Beaver Creek.

Come give us a call and lets see if we can make your holiday vacation the most memorable experience of your life!12-04-13 snow

Wednesday Wrap Up- the events and the inside tips

Let’s take a look into what’s going on this weekend. We will give you the local tips on everything you need to know in order to enjoy Beaver Creek and Vail’s events just like a local.

Beaver Creek this Weekend:

Luxury Lifestyle Festival: This is fairly new event to Beaver Creek. The “Lux Fest” as the locals are calling it is only on its second year. This year the “Lux Fest” partnered with Mountain Living Magazine. You will see amazing cars, Beaver Creek’s version of fashion week, incredible homes, all while enjoying a glass of wine and delicious treats.

The Wrap Up- The Luxury Lifestyle Festival is great for the family. The event is outside so make sure you dress accordingly. By that we mean bring a rain jacket. The weather should be perfect for this event, but those afternoon showers come in quick. Be ready to walk around the village all day. The first event starts at 10am and ends at 3pm on Saturday, so go make a day out of it! We would suggest trying the food at the festival, but if the kids are still hungry take them to Blue Moose Pizza. Save some time and park down below and take the bus up. Believe us, it’s NO fun getting all the way up and realizing the people at the gate were right…. both parking garages are full.

Vail this Weekend:

We hate to say it, but it’s the last Oktoberfest in the valley. All weekend long celebrate by drinking beer and eating brats in Vail Village. Once again, a great event for the family. There are lots of fun things for the kids from contests to dancing. If you don’t take or don’t have kids, take the bus and really soak in what Oktoberfest is about. One of our favorites will be there, Helmut Fricker. This man is amazing!

The Wrap Up- Take the kids if you have them. The weather should be perfect, but do know the whole event takes place outside. Bring a couple bottles of water to save a couple bucks to put towards the steins (the steins are a great thing to have and take home). If you plan on celebrating with beer arrange a safe ride home. There are several cabs in the area and please use them! FUN FYI- have the kids ask Helmut for a joke. He always has one up his sleeve or should we say lederhosen.

If you have questions about these events or others please comment! We want to make sure you know everything you need to know!

Throw Back Thursday- Vail’s 50th Anniversary

The United States Army created a training camp during World War II called Camp Hale. Located south of the valley, Camp Hale became a alpine combat training field for the 10th Mountain Devision. After returning from northern Italy the members of the 10th became leaders in the ski industry. Many of them worked or founded over 50 resorts in the United States.

Pete Seibert returned to Colorado after fighting in the war and met Colorado local , Earl Eaton. The two climbed Vail Mountain during the winter of 1957 for the first time. Eaton and Seibert decided then and there that Vail Mountain would be a perfect ski area. Their only issue was money.

In 1957, Vail Mountain was owned by the United States Forest Service and local ranchers. In order for Seibert and Eaton to obtain the ground they needed $1,000,000 in the bank. Seibert reached out to investors and Vail Mountain was started. The initial investors paid $10,000 for a condo unit and a lifetime season pass.

Vail has changed quite a bit since then. This year Vail will be celebrating it’s 50th Anniversary. 50 years! In 1962, Pete Siebert and Earl Eaton founded what is known today as one of the best ski areas in the United States. Just like many locals will tell you, they came for the night and never left. Watch Pete and Earl’s story to learn more.

Pretty remarkable! Vail is a place where so many people around the world share memories. Please share your memories with us! In honor of Vail’s 50th Birthday we want to hear what Vail means to you. Oh, and we will leave you with this to get you in the mood…
