Register your float today for the Fat Tuesday Parade on March 8! There is no cost to participate, and prizes will be awarded to the top three floats. First place will take home $1,000 in cash, and the second and third place winners will take home merchandise prizes. Download the registration form below and return it no later than March 2. Floats should be Mardi Gras themed, and all floats will be given beads to distribute to spectators during the parade. The parade will start at 4 p.m. on March 8. President Ford’s Beaver Creek, Colo., home has just been put on the market by owner Kevin Hayes, who says he feels a “special connection” because Ford was in office during his time at West Point.

Listed for $10.995M, the eight-bedroom estate, complete with a sweet indoor pool and 600-bottle wine room, has hosted the likes of Clinton and Bush the Younger. Ford moved into the place in 1983 and sold it just before his death; details include the official Presidential seal engraved into the entryway, a plaque quoting John Adams, and a fireplace that was built to resemble the one in the White House’s State Dining Room.

For the 8th year, Talons Challenge will be showcasing the best steeps Beaver Creek has to offer. Over 24,000 vertical feet of Black Diamond and Double Black Diamond runs await on Beaver Creek’s legendary World Cup Birds of Prey downhill course, Grouse Mountain, and in Larkspur Bowl. Conquer all 13 runs and earn your spot on the Talon’s Wall-of-Fame.

The event is limited to the first 1,500 registrants. Last year’s registration sold out, so register early to make sure you secure your spot on February 26th!

Included in your registration fee are a free Bratwurst and either a Bud Light or a non-alcoholic beverage. All finishers will receive a Talons Challenge cap and a commemorative Talons pin.

A portion of proceeds from the event will be donated to SOS Outreach. SOS Outreach provides 5,500 kids with an adventure based youth development curriculum. First lady Michelle Obama and her daughters, Malia and Sasha, are among the Presidents Day weekend crowd.Mrs. Obama arrived Friday night for a weekend of skiing in Vail and Beaver Creek.

A motorcade of about a dozen vehicles, including 15 state and local law enforcement officers, traveled from the Eagle County Regional Airport to Vail on Friday night, according to the Colorado State Patrol. Roads were temporarily blocked to make way for the motorcade in Eagle.

The motorcade entered an underground garage beneath the Sebastian hotel in Vail Village shortly after 9:30 p.m.

The White House confirmed to the Washington Post the trip the morning in an email.

“The First Lady and several close family friends are chaperoning their children on a ski trip. Personal expenses are being paid for by the Obamas,” the email said.

Sasha, 9, and Malia, 12, have been skiing once before, at Liberty Mountain Resort, in Carroll Valley, Pa., in February 2010.
